#Roommates, unfortunately the 2020 holiday season will be very different than in years past due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic—but Zoom is offering a way to help. Video-conferencing leader Zoom is officially removing its usual 40-minute limit on free accounts, so that users can talk to their loved ones as much as they’d like this holiday season.
@FOX5Atlanta reports, Zoom is giving its users the ultimate Christmas gift in the form of unlimited time on video calls over Christmas and New Year’s so families and friends can spend more virtual time together for the holidays. According to a recent Zoom press release, the company stated “Whether coming together on the final day of Hanukkah, celebrating Christmas, ringing in the New Year, or marking the last days of Kwanzaa, those connecting with friends and family won’t get cut short.”
The company, which has become a staple of communication since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, advised users to practice extra caution for unwanted “Zoom bombings,” while also giving tips on how to add a festive background to videos to bolster the holiday spirit for those who are opting to spend the holidays at home instead of physically visiting loved ones.
Here are the times and days Zoom will be allowing unlimited video calls:
- 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, December 23rd, through 6 a.m. ET Saturday, December 26th
- 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, December 30th, through 6 a.m. ET on Saturday, January 2nd
Surprisingly, over 1 million people recently passed through U.S. airport security checkpoints within the last few days in an alarming sign that public health pleas to avoid holiday travel are being ignored, despite an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases.
