Zonnique & Bandhunta Izzy Respond To Criticism
On Monday, January 15, the couple took to YouTube to share a video to their channel which is titled ‘The Hunta Family.’ The clip was almost 40 minutes long and opened up with the pair seemingly addressing comments from The Shade Room’s Instagram account.
The first comment the pair addressed was a social media user criticizing Izzy for referring to Coretta Scott King amid the backlash he and Zonnique received.
The pair explained that there were never intentions to “disrespect” the activist.
“I heard there was a joke going on about the pinnacle of a woman that they want as they Coretta, so I called her my Coretta — Wtf are you talking about? Civil rights movement? We’re talking about her relationship status,” Izzy explained.
A few minutes later, the pair addressed their initial comments about staying in a relationship because they share a 3-year-old daughter.
“And then y’all took when I said if the baby wasn’t involved like I just wouldn’t want to be here if there wasn’t a baby involved,” Izzy explained. “Wouldn’t I be with my two other baby mothers if a baby could really make a n***a stay? I want to be here because I want to be here…”
Zonnique explained that she doesn’t have Izzy “hostage.” Additionally, she explained that either of them could leave the relationship at any point. Before concluding, the pair shared that they aren’t trying to be an “example for nobody’s kids” and have a “great relationship.” However, that doesn’t exempt them from problems.

Social Media Reacts
Social media users entered The Shade Room’s comment section to share their reactions to the couple’s sentiments.
Instagram user @badgirljanelle wrote.
“I understand wanting to defend yourself When people go in on you.. but sometimes responding just makes it worse Chile 😩”
“The fact that he doesn’t know or didn’t learn that Coretta Scott King was JUST as important as her husband during the Civil Rights Movement is EMBARRASSING with a capital EMBARRASSING! Ladies please educate yourself on these men that yall reproduce with!”
“The lights are on but nobody’s home.. yikes.”
“YOU literally said “No” to a question that asked ‘if yall didn’t have a child would yall be together” lol…But I guess “THEY’ trippin lol”
Here’s Why The Couple Initially Went Viral
As The Shade Room previously reported, the couple took to YouTube on January 9 to share a question-and-answer video with fans. During the conversation, Zonnique asked Izzy if they would be together had they not shared a child.
Izzy firmly responded, “No,” and then shared his explanation.
“I feel like… you had an image in your mind of raising Hunter in a two-parent home,” he explained. “So you tolerated a lot of s**t, so you just stayed — I wouldn’t be with you neither… I have four kids, and this is the only kid I was in the household with from start to finish, so it’s something that I don’t want to take from her as well. But I would’ve been kicked you to the god***n curb.”
Ultimately, Izzy explained that he dislikes Zonnique’s attitude.
After the couple’s sit-down was published, YouTube users largely criticized the parents for publicly revealing intimate details of their relationship and seemingly “tolerating” one another. Additionally, many concluded that Izzy lacks respect for Zonnique.
“As someone who is currently working towards finally separating myself from a man who I was on and off (mostly on) with for 8 years, I refuse to watch another young beautiful woman settle for a guy who shown the world loud and clear that not only he doesn’t love her, hell he doesn’t even like her, but he doesn’t respect her either. This is so sad… I hope she sees what’s really going on here,” YouTube user @TIFFANYBUTTERFLY commented.
However, on January 12, Zonnique took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share her reactions to the criticism. The mother appeared unbothered and seemed to divulge more information about her romantic preferences.
“y’all think I’m pressed about being in a relationship with a man whole time I like women… omg it’s 2024 y’all still invested in other people business,” she wrote.
That same day, Izzy also took to X to share his response to the criticism by sharing a photo of him and Zonnique while referring to her as his Coretta.
