Young Thug’s older brother Unfoonk, whose real name is Quantavious Grier, was arrested on a gun charge just months after accepting a plea deal in the ongoing Young Slime Life (YSL) RICO case.
On Thursday, Unfoonk was arrested for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and being a person associated with a criminal street gang while participating in illegal activity, according to WSB-TV.
The rapper’s also facing other smaller traffic offenses stemming from this latest arrest.
Unfoonk pleaded guilty in December to one count of violating the RICO Act and one count of theft by receiving stolen property in connection to the YSL case.
Unfoonk accepted a 12-year sentence with two years commuted already to time served and ten years probation, WSB-TV reports.
He will perform 750 hours of community service and keep a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew as a part of his probation.
He must also not have any contact with his brother Young Thug or any other of the YSL defendants until the RICO case is over.
It’s unclear how his immediate arrest will affect his plea deal.
His younger brother, Young Thug, remains behind bars as he awaits trial in the RICO case against his record label. Prosecutors claim YSL is a “criminal street gang.”
Thug is facing eight charges, including conspiracy to violate the RICO Act and participation in criminal street gang activity, as well as weapons and drug crimes.
Thug filed a fourth motion for bond, with his attorney Brian Steel, saying his client is “languishing in the County Jail,” according to a motion filed on April 24.
In the motion obtained by 11Alive, Steel says Thugger cannot stay healthy and noted that his client has limited healthy food options.
He claims the rapper relies on food with “zero health benefits,” like chocolate and chips.
In addition, he says the rapper has had little access to fresh air and sunlight since May 2022.
Thug is constantly “sleep-deprived” due to only getting five hours of sleep every night. And when he has court appearances, he’s forced to wake up by 3 or 4 A.M., the outlet reports.
Judge Ural Glanville hasn’t yet ruled on the motion.
Thug has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, plagued by several issues since the start. That includes the arrest of a lawyer, Anastassios Manettas, who represents another defendant in the case.
The jury selection in the YSL RICO trial is now in its fifth month of proceedings.
