If Young Thug is anything, he’s confident. He seems to get that way when talking about hip hop legends that came before him and while some fans might admire the moxy, other hip hop fans feel he’s downright disrespectful.
His recent comments about Jay Z have a lot of people giving Thugger the whole side eye.
The gist of comments were that Young Thug feels Hov doesn’t have at least 30 songs that people know by heart, unlike himself. He made the bold statement on an episode of Gillie Da Kid’s podcast “Million Dollaz Worth of Game.”
Young Thug claimed that he has a catalog of songs that a whole stadium can rap along with him, but Jay Z isn’t doing those numbers.
“We ain’t talking about stream sales, we ain’t talkin’ ’bout anthems, we talkin’ about songs they know,” said Thugger. “Like, when I perform, I got 30, 40 songs that the whole stadium gon’ know. They gon’ know these motherf**kas. All 30 songs”
He continued, “N***a, Jay-Z ain’t got 30 songs like that,” Thugger added before realizing he may have made a dire mistake. “I’m just saying, I know he do, but he probably got 50 of them b****es. I’m just sayin’, I’m not literally saying him, I’m just saying, n****s who you thinking.”
If you’re like Queen Bey because this feels like deja vu, that’s because it kind of is. Like literally a month ago, Young Thug said some problematic things about another legend…Andre 3000.
Young Thug said he had not worked with Three Stacks because he feels Dre looks down on this rap generation and well let’s just say, it didn’t go well for Thug then either.
Which legend will Thug take on next? Or will he learn from this experience and think before he speaks again? We’ll keep you posted.
