We are literally days away from music’s biggest night, and performers for the 2019 Grammy Awards are still being announced.
On Wednesday, the Recording Academy announced that Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and Andra Day have been added to the bill as they are scheduled to honor the legendary Aretha Franklin.
This will not be the first time that Yolanda Adams and Fantasia have honored the Queen of Soul since her passing. Both Yolanda and Fantasia performed at Aretha’s funeral back in August. They also participated in the tribute during the 2018 Black Girls Rock award ceremony.
Last month, many other celebrities participated in the “Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul,” tribute, which was organized by The Recording Academy and CBS. The tribute concert was hosted by Tyler Perry and featured performances from Shirley Caesar, Celine Dion, Patti LaBelle, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, and many others.
Aretha Franklin, who has earned 18 Grammy Awards throughout her legendary career, passed last August at the age of 76 after battling pancreatic cancer.
Some of the other performers expected to hit the stage during the 61st Annual Grammy Awards include Travis Scott, H.E.R, Janelle Monae, Lady Gaga, and Chloe X Halle.
As we previously reported, Alicia Keys will serve as the host for this year’s award show. Everything goes down on February 10th live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Roommates, will you be tuned in?
