Yasss! Nipsey Hussle Receives 3 Grammy Nominations!

Despite his untimely and tragic passing in March of this year, rapper Nipsey Hussle’s last album was just recognized for the upcoming 62nd annual Grammy Awards. Nipsey scored three nominations for his work.

As many of the music industry’s brightest stars were up early to find out if they received any Grammy Award nominations, fans of the late Nipsey Hussle were overjoyed to learn that the Recording Academy nominated him three times in various rap categories. As reported by @HollywoodReporter, Nip is also one up against other hip hop artists with multiple nods, including breakout star Lil Nas X who landed six of his own.

Nipsey is nominated for Best Rap Performance (“Racks in the Middle,” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy), Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Higher,” a collaboration with DJ Khaled and John Legend) and also Best Rap Song (“Racks in the Middle.”) In addition to Lil Nas X, Nipsey is also competing with notable artists, such as Offset and J. Cole.

The multiple nominations aren’t the only way that the Grammys are showing love to Nipsey, as reportedly the suit he wore to this year’s Grammy Awards just weeks before he passed is now on display at the Grammy Museum. The museum has a legendary collection of items from memories of previous awards shows.

The Grammy nominees were selected from over 20,000 submissions in 84 categories, and the winners will be determined by the voting of the Recording Academy members. The 62nd Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on January 26th from Los Angeles. The event will once again be hosted by Alicia Keys.
