While the rest of the world is still trying to manage #COVID19, Wuhan, China seems to no longer have many concerns about the deadly virus. Once a hot spot for the virus, Wuhan recently hosted a major concert pool party at Wuhan Maya Beach Water Park, according to CNN.
“Over the weekend, the Wuhan Maya Beach Water Park was filled with partygoers in swimsuits bunched together shoulder to shoulder, waving to the beat of the music while cooling down in hip-high water; others relaxed on inflatable rubber tubes that packed the pool to the brim, with little space to float around.”
A complete turnaround from the 76-day lockdown, there hasn’t been any new reports of any COVID-19 cases since mid-May, according to @cnn.
The Wuhan Maya Beach Water Park reopened in late June but because of seasonal rain the amount of visitors have been pretty low. Also, the number of those in attendance in August only accounted for half the level, when compared to this time last year, CNN reports.
CNN also states that the water park receives an average of 15,000 daily visitors during weekends, and is offering half-price discounts to some visitors, Hubei Daily reported.
As previously reported, the Coronavirus started to make headlines back in Dec of 2019. Wuhan, China was said to be the first place the virus was documented. The United States reported its first case in January 2020. Since then, there has been a major change in lifestyle. All outside concerts and festivals have been cancelled, many schools are participating in virtual learning, and masks are mandated in many states.
