Whew! Roommates, as we continue to navigate this quarantine, the World Health Organization (WHO) is adding another recommendation to their growing list of ways to help stay clear of the coronavirus, and let’s just say for the 21+ crowd, y’all aren’t going to like it!
According to CNBC, WHO suggests drinking alcohol can increase the risk of catching the coronavirus and is recommending that government officials around the world help limit access to alcohol during the lockdown.
I know y’all are already upset reading this far in, but there’s more. World Health Organization also doubled downed with their message with a myth buster, for anyone who believes that drinking an excess amount of alcohol can “kill” the virus. Not only does it not kill the coronavirus, but it could result in serious health issues. “Therefore, people should minimize their alcoholic consumption at any time, and particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Despite the news, Americans are actually having an opposite reaction. Apparently, American are stocking up on liquor. According to Nielsen, US liquor and grocery stores were up 22% for the week of March 28th this year compared to last year.
We’ve been watching everyone turn up at the crib, but now is probably a really good time to echo, if you’re going to drink at the crib (21 and over only of course) please be sure to also social distance and only go outside if need be. Though we may not always agree with the World Health Organization, their information is contingent on data and facts. SO, if you’re going to get boozy roommates, you mayyyyy need to start thinking about cutting back on the liquor.
We continue to wish everyone a safe quarantine! Stay here for all your COVID-19 details!
