Sydney Leday Celebrated Her 24th Birthday Just Two Days Before The Houston Shooting
The fatal shooting that killed Migos rapper Takeoff and injured Leday occurred just two days after her 24th birthday. On Halloween night, Leday was out celebrating the milestone with her friends.
Like any other 24-year-old, I was just out partying and celebrating.
Leday, who used to live in Los Angeles, was familiar with celebrity sightings. So when she and her friends arrived at a private party that Quavo and Takeoff were attending, she wasn’t phased.
The 24-year-old recalled that the party started out as any normal event. But by 2:30 a.m. she could “sense” that something was wrong.
Leday said that she saw Quavo get upset during a dice game. While she believed the disagreement started as “friendly banter,” things soon took a turn for the worse.
That’s when I knew something was wrong.
Then, the argument escalated. And she turned to run away. According to KHOU 11, that’s when shots began to ring out at the 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley.
I felt the sting to the back of my head, and I felt myself falling… but it was just like a scary movie, really — ironically, it was Halloween night. I had on a nun outfit. I had blood all over me…
She added that she somehow made her way down an escalator. And to a friend’s car, before being driven to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Leday Was In A Coma And Intubated At The Hospital
According to KHOU 11, Leday was in a coma and intubated while at the hospital. When she woke up, the 24-year-old could only think about returning home.
I was in the hospital for about a week. I didn’t really want to be there.
However, Leday is certainly “grateful” to be alive.
I really just can say I’m grateful to be here… the place that [the bullet] hit in my head, I just feel like it was a miracle…
Leday said that she can remember everything that happened that night because she was able to keep herself awake after being shot.
I remember what happened because I was up the whole time after I got shot in the head and I called my mom and told her what happened and told her to come (to the hospital).

Leday Didn’t Learn Of Takeoff’s Passing Until After She Arrived Home
The 24-year-old returned home and said that’s when the “real stuff started.” She had a panic attack, couldn’t conjure up an appetite, and even learned that others were injured during the shooting. And ultimately, that Takeoff was killed.
Leday’s mother, Sakhara Carmon, has started a GoFundMe to assist her daughter in paying off her medical bills.
The Murder Of TakeOff in Houston at 810 Billiards and Bowling, not only took the life of a World class Artist (TakeOff); But devastated my family on another spectrum. This senseless act of violence left my daughter, Sydney, who was an innocent bystander, with a GUNSHOT to the head. We are very fortunate that she survived; But has been left with substantial medical bills that are still accruing. (Hundreds Of Thousands). Both Physical and Mental, Disabling Damages requiring treatment that is likely to abide with her for the balance of her Natural Life. These Lifealtering Debilitating Injuries has left my once happy girl completely traumatized. Sydney was an unfortunate victim of violence and we are calling on our Family, Friends and Community for support. (SHE HAS NO INSURANCE) Thanks in advance.
