#Roommates, if you always wanted Will Smith and Kevin Hart to team up together for a movie…you just got your wish! It has just been announced that Will and Kevin will star together in a remake of the 1987 classic holiday film, “Planes, Trains And Automobiles.”
@Deadline reports, Paramount Pictures has officially committed to a remake of the classic John Hughes 1987 holiday road trip comedy “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” starring Will Smith and Kevin Hart in their first big screen match-up. Will’s Westbrook Studios and Kevin’s Hartbeat Productions will also produce the film. The original film starred Steven Martin and the late John Candy.
For a refresher, in the original, Steve Martin and John Candy are two men with extremely different personalities who are forced to become travel partners and bunkmates in a desperate attempt to get home to loved ones for Thanksgiving after their flights are canceled. A hilarious set of holiday travel disasters follow, as they continue to mix like oil and water.
In her feature debut, Ayesha Carr will write the script. Carr most recently executive produced the upcoming Hulu series “Woke,” which premieres in September. She also wrote episodes of “Rel,” “The Carmichael Show,” “Mixology,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” and “My Wife and Kids.”
There has been no release date announced as of right now and no additional casting decisions have been publicized.
