Whoopi Goldberg is serving social media users real nostalgia after poppin’ out with the cast of ‘Sister Act 2’ in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary.
According to PEOPLE, Goldberg reunited the cast for a special episode of ‘The View,’ which aired Wednesday, June 5. The outlet notes that the broadcast opened up with Goldberg dressed as her character in the film, nun Sister Mary Clarence.
The actor then led her former castmates in a rendition of ‘Oh Happy Day.’
The outlet notes that actors Ryan Toby, who starred as Ahmal; Kathy Najimy, who starred as Sister Mary Patrick; and Wendy Makkena, who starred as Sister Mary Robert, were included in the choir.
Additional actors in attendance from the film reportedly included Sheryl Lee Ralph, Monica Calhoun, and others. The outlet notes that Lauryn Hill, who starred as Rita Watson in the film, was not present.
“Worldwide, it doesn’t matter how old you are, you are the age of those kids when you see the movie,” Goldberg reportedly explained, per PEOPLE. “You’re the age of them and you remember your time and you remember how happy you were that you didn’t have to go to Catholic school. But then you remember how sorry you are that you didn’t get to go to Catholic school and you missed out on teachers like this. So I think people just feel themselves here.”
The outlet notes that the show ended with the cast performing ‘Joyful, Joyful.’

According to PEOPLE, Goldberg also shared an update on ‘Sister Act 3’ before the show closed.
“Don’t forget: ‘Sister Act 3’ is in the works,” she said. “The script is in, and I can’t wait for the day I can say, ‘Come along for the ride because I got that green light.'”
Social media users reacted to the cast’s reunion in The Shade Room’s comment section.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Goldberg made headlines earlier this year in May. At the time, the 68-year-old revealed that she prefers “hit and runs” over long-term relationships.
“I am fundamentally a selfish person, and I found that… I don’t have time for a whole lot of other people coming into my life… Hit and runs are great. I don’t mind those. But you can’t spend the night,” Goldberg explained while appearing on ‘The Don Lemon Show.’
Goldberg acknowledged that her outlook on marriage and commitment isn’t traditional. However, she learned to give herself “permission” to handle relationships on her terms and accept that her preference for “hit and runs” may differ from most people.
