#Roommates, get into this story! A White police officer in Lorain, Ohio is out of a job after stopping his daughter’s boyfriend, who is Black, and detained them for no absolute reason.
According to The Chronicle Telegram, Officer John Kovach Jr. pulled Makai Coleman, 18, over while he was driving with three individuals, and told him he was “going to jail.”
The teen asked Kovach why and he responded,“Have a seat in my car. We’ll make sh*t up as we go.”
He ended up detaining Makai and placed him in the back of his car. A nearby homeowner, Gloria Morales, approached Kovach and told him that two of her children were in the car as well. What’s interesting about this is that the Kovach told Morales that his daughter’s laptop was in her house and wanted to get it. Gloria told the officer that he couldn’t come into her home and he threatened to put the cuffs on her and bring her in. He ended up confessing that he used the laptop to track where his daughter was.
The officer eventually noticed that his own daughter, Katlyn, was sitting in the backseat, and told her to get in his car ASAP. He ended up detaining his own daughter, pushing her into the vehicle and letting her boyfriend out.
While the officer was questioning the couple, he ignored an emergency request to check up on a road rage incident.
The investigation determined that Kovach had violated the department’s policy by initiating the traffic stop without case, threatening to arrest Gloria, for taking Makai into custody and saying he would make up the charges against him.
