Whew chile, file this under “tales of the unsanitary!” A new report regarding how frequent Americans change their underwear is about to have you gagging…literally.
As reported by @cbs46, a new survey produced some pretty disturbing findings that are definitely TMI. Underwear company Tommy John recently conducted a survey of 1,000 men and women in the U.S. to find out about their hygiene habits.
Around 45% of those surveyed admitted they have worn the same pair of underwear for two days or longer. Meanwhile, an additional 13% said they have worn the same pair for a week or more. The company’s findings also revealed that men were 2.5 times more likely than women to wear their underwear for more than a week.
Another interesting element to the survey found the statistics behind how often people are throwing their old pairs of underwear away. 46% admitted to keeping the same pair of underwear for a year or more, while 38% said they can’t even remember how long they’ve kept the same pair.
Tommy John recommends swapping out old underwear for new pairs every six months to a year to make sure you don’t run the risk getting an infection or exposed to harmful bacteria.
All we can say is, some things are best kept to yourself.
Roommates, what do you think of this survey?
