Wale made a stop by The Breakfast Club and talked about any and everything hip-hop.
During the interview, he was asked about an old headline where he said he felt that his dark skin has held him back in the rap game.
Wale responded and said, “Racial ambiguity helps in anything. Racial ambiguity helps at some level. Even in acting, you can play Italian, Greek, this, that. If you’re Black…Black, Jamaican, African, maybe.”
He continued, “It could be for a lot of reasons. I didn’t mean it like the world is racist like racial ambiguity helps a lot, it’s a benefit, I think.”
Wale’s previous rap battle with J. Cole and Drake’s current rap battle with Pusha T was then brought into question, as Charlamagne Tha God asked if he thought J. Cole and Drake being bi-racial helps them out. Wale quickly responded and said, “I don’t know!”
