A 22 year old server’s low-key act of kindness has gone viral! Alex Ruiz was photographed feeding a regular at Cinco De Mayo Mexican Grill in Douglasville, GA who had no hands and fellow customer Reginald Widener says that what he witnessed hit him “right in the soul.”
“He had a smile on his face the entire time,” Widener told CBS News. “He didn’t complain about it; it looked like he really cared.” According to CBS news, a waitress at the restaurant, Crystal Figueroa, mentioned that Ruiz offered to help the man after overhearing him ask for help. “[He] sat with him until he was finished eating,” she described . “He patiently waited for him to finish his meal.”
Ruiz told customers that he only did it because it was the right thing to do and that he was happy to help the man. After explaining to CBS News that southern hospitality is a hot commodity in the South, he said, “There’s people who have a worse situation dealing with more [stuff] than you do day to day. The world needs more people to be positive.”
We definitely need more of these stories of selfless acts of kindness! Hats off to you, Alex!
