Just when we thought the drama surrounding DaniLeigh’s song “Yellow Bone” was dying down, the pot was stirred once again by Vivica Fox and her co-hosts on Fox Soul’s “Cocktails with Queens.”
DaniLeigh has been struggling to get back in the public’s good graces after defending the song, which repeats the lyrics, “Yellow Bone, that’s what he wants.”
Fans accused Dani of at minimum being tone deaf to the language she used and the impact her words have while others flat out accused her of being a colorist.
Dani’s initial stance was quite defensive, trying to make sense of why she couldn’t make a song for her “light skin baddies.” She denied hating on other women and instead said her critics were the ones who were “haters” while also breaking down her ethnic background.
After some reflection, she went into a full-fledged apology and even used her celebrity boyfriend DaBaby, who is darker in skin tone, as an example of how she’s not a colorist. Watch her apology below:
Well, if you let Ms. Vivica Fox tell it, DaniLeigh’s motives for releasing the song may have not been so innocent. During Monday night’s episode of “Cocktails with Queens,” Vivica said DaniLeigh “did that to get back at that baby mama and to throw that in her face,” referring to the awkward love triangle between DaniLeigh, DaBaby and his children’s mother Meme.
As you all may know, this isn’t the first go-around of Dani and DaBaby’s relationship, as the two were once rumored to be an item before DaBaby went back to Meme.
Given the history, Vivica thinks the song is a mere act of retaliation by DaniLeigh and as Vivica pointed out, Meme has brown skin.
“Young lady, be careful, ’cause I’m gon’ tell you something,” Vivica began her message for DaniLeigh. “If he go back to that baby mama and then he gon’ write a song about you. His artist gon’ write a song about you. His baby mama gon’ write a song about you. Everybody is gon’ write a song about you.”
