(Update) The Mother Of Quartavius Mender Says He’s Dealing With Mental Health & Grieving

Recently news broke that 18-year-old Quartavius Mender was arrested after allegedly making online threats to kill Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat, his wife, and the Atlanta Public Schools Police Chief Ronald Applin in relation to the arrests of the Young Thug and YSL arrests.

WSBTV has since spoken to the teen’s mother, who says that he is dealing with mental health and grieving at the moment.

The news outlet spoke to Malaika Kulenga, Quartavius’ mother, as she provided a few details about how he is doing mentally. She says that he is dealing with his mental health, and claims he was diagnosed with a mental illness at the age of 12. She also shared that he is grieving after losing his brother to a hit-and-run last September.

When asked if he thinks Quartavius could be suffering from a mental illness, Sheriff Labat said, “We haven’t made the assessment, so we’ll leave that to the courts to decide, but the last thing you’re going to do is threaten me and my family.”

As previously reported, Quartavius is facing nearly 24 felony charges after allegedly making threats in comments on social media.

When it comes to Young Thug and Gunna, both artists were denied bond in their RICO cases and will remain behind bars.

Recently Thugger’s ex Jerrika Karlae spoke about his well-being during a recent interview and said,

“He’s doing good, actually, and he’s in great spirits. I feel like this is just a moment for him to learn a lot of lessons.”

She added, “Honestly, he was giving me advice on how to… He was like, ‘Keep your head in the game, wake up every day and put a smile on your face and be thankful, and we good.'”
