Back in May viral YouTuber Kevin Samuels shockingly passed away at the age of 57. There was some suspicion surrounding his passing, but now an official cause of death has been announced.
According to TMZ, the Fulton County Medical Examiner has announced that hypertension, which is also known as high blood pressure, was the cause of Kevin Samuels’ passing. The medical examiner said,
“Evidence of hypertension includes a heart whose chambers are thicker than normal.”
At the time of his passing, Kevin was reportedly taking a medication called Atenolol, which has been listed to help treat hypertension.
As previously reported, back in May, Kevin was found “unresponsive on the floor of his apartment,” by Atlanta police. There was a woman present with Kevin in his apartment when he was found unresponsive. She told authorities that he had complained of chest pain, and she attempted to help him, but he collapsed and she called the police.
The incident report at the time stated, “she requested the 911 operator to contact the front desk for a defibrillator to keep Mr. Samuels responsive until Grady arrived because she is a nurse.”
Shortly after Kevin’s passing, the 911 call that was made the day of his passing was released. The woman, who was identified as Ms. Ortencia Alcantara, was asked if he was awake, and at the time she said, “No he has an irregular rhythm I can feel it. He’s breathing in and out, but he has an irregular rhythm.”
Kevin gained popularity online through his video content as he offered dating advice to multiple people from all over. His content often sparked debate among many people.
A week after his passing, an episode of the popular FX series “Atlanta,” starring Kevin aired on television.
