Last week, it was announced that J. Lo and Shakira would be sharing the spotlight during the Halftime Show during the Super Bowl in 2020 in Miami. Like any other halftime performance, people have always shared their thoughts on the artists selected for the special moment.
Uncle Luke, who is a Miami native, is definitely not feeling J.Lo and Shakira as this year’s selections, and he made sure to voice his opinion as he called out Jay-Z and the NFL for the decision.
Aside from speaking with TMZ, about his thoughts on the performers for the Halftime show, in a piece written for the Miami New Times, Luke expressed his disapproval.
He said, “Pitbull, AKA Mr. Worldwide, along with Flo Rida and Rick Ross, should really be the headliners of this halftime show. J. Lo and Shakira should be Pitbull’s invited guests since he did songs with them. And Flo Rida should be inviting Trick Daddy, Trina, and other Miami superstars to share the spotlight. The NFL is going about this a**-backward.”
He continued, “Jay-Z is in violation of the G code. When you go into another man’s city, you are supposed to consult with him. In this case, Jay-Z should’ve had a conversation with me before coming up with this ludicrous idea. The NFL is disrespecting the hard work of black entertainers who have made Miami the center of the rap game.”
If you all remember, back in August, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and the NFL announced their partnership. They launched their “Inspire Change,” program which focused on an appearal line, as well as their “Songs of Season,” portion, which aims to “highlight stars and emerging artists across all genres.”
Roommates, what are your thoughts?
