The U.S. just sent a very deadly message to the international terrorist group ISIS, as America orchestrated a drone strike in Syria that killed one of its leaders. According to multiple reports, Syrian ISIS leader Maher al-Agal was killed via a U.S. drone strike that occurred in northwest Syria.
In addition to the death of Maher al-Agal, the leader of ISIS in Syria, the U.S. drone strike also seriously injured a senior ISIS official with close ties to al-Agal, however, there were no civilian casualties reported. Speaking about the drone strike, Colonel Joe Buccino, spokesman for Central Command said,
“The removal of these ISIS leaders will disrupt the terrorist organization’s ability to further plot and carry out attacks. The removal of these ISIS leaders will disrupt the terrorist organization’s ability to further plot and carry out attacks.”
The recent drone strike was the latest move in an ongoing effort from the U.S. to stop ISIS, as various parts of Syria and Iraq have seen a resurgence of the terrorist group since the beginning of the year.
President Joe Biden also addressed the U.S drone strike, stating that the killing of Maher al-Agal “takes a key terrorist off the field and significantly degrades the ability of ISIS to plan, resource, and conduct their operations in the region.”
Biden continued.
“It sends a powerful message to all terrorists who threaten our homeland and our interests around the world. The United States will be relentless in its efforts to bring you to justice.”
