Roommates, the last few weeks WNBA Brittney Griner has been a hot topic due to her ongoing imprisonment in Russia amid the country’s current war with Ukraine—however, finally some positive new about her was just released. According to reports, Brittney Griner is said to be “in good condition” following a visit from a member of the U.S. Embassy.
During a recent interview regarding Brittney Griner continuing to be held inside a Russian jail, U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price confirmed that an official from the United States Embassy in Moscow, Russia was recently granted consular access to Brittney and found her to be “in good condition.”
The unnamed embassy official was reportedly granted access to Brittney Griner on March 22nd, making the visit the first official government access given to her since she was initially detained in Russia back in February.
Price gave the update, saying “We were able to check on her condition, we will continue to work very closely with her legal team, with her broader network, to see to it that she is treated fairly. Our official found Brittney Griner to be in good condition and we will continue to do everything we can to see to that it she is treated fairly throughout this ordeal.”
As we previously reported, Brittney Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport due to allegations of smuggling vape cartridges with drugs inside—which in Russia, is a punishable offense that carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Early this month, her arrest was officially extended until May 19th.
