Tyler Perry penned a letter to his people today, urging the black community to take the coronavirus seriously after one of his own crew members passed away after battling the virus.
Tyler said that Charles Gregory, a hairstylist who worked on Tyler’s various productions as well as some major stars’ hair, passed away after losing his battle to COVID-19.
“The man was warm, loving and hilarious. We all loved to see him coming and hear his laughter,” Tyler said, remembering his friend. “It saddens me to think of him dying this way. My sincerest prayers are with his family.”
Tyler then took his message and directed it at the black community, speaking to a myth that black people are immune to the virus. “That is a lie! You can get it, and you will get it if we don’t do what we’re being told to do.”

Our prayers are with Charles Gregory’s family at this time and we also urge everyone to be safe and practice social distancing.
