Roomies, Tyler Perry is blessing even more people today. The New Orleans native just paid for groceries, during “Senior Hour” at 44 Kroger locations in Atlanta and 29 locations in his hometown of New Orleans, according to AJC.
Felix Turner, spokesperson for Kroger stated, “Senior and higher-risk Kroger shoppers in metro Atlanta did receive a nice surprise at the register this morning when they learned Tyler Perry had paid their grocery tab in full,” said Felix Turner, the Atlanta spokesman for Kroger. “We would like to join our customers in thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic. It was truly a pleasure to see our customers fill with joy and gratitude as the news spread throughout 44 stores across metro Atlanta.”
According to Fox 8, when shoppers entered the store they were handed slips that read, “Random Act of Kindness” and upon checking out they were told their groceries were paid for.
One of the recipients of his generosity stated he saw a grocery bag over the credit card reader and proceeded to take it off, but he was stopped.
“I was almost done shopping, so that wasn’t a big deal,” he said. When he arrived, he saw a Kroger grocery bag over the credit card reader and was about to take it off when the cashier told him that he didn’t need to worry. Perry, she said, had his $290 in groceries covered.”
Also, according to 11 Alive, the media mogul only wanted to be referred to as “Atlanta Angel.”
As we reported, Tyler Perry was in the news, last week, for tipping a total of $21,000 to 42 Atlanta restaurant employees.
During times like this, it is good to see those who can give back do just that.
