Two Wisconsin Police Officers Placed On Leave As Authorities Investigate The Shooting Of Jacob Blake (Update)

It looks like an investigation is currently in progress following the shocking shooting of Jacob Blake, which was captured on video and posted to Facebook.

As we previously reported, he was reportedly trying to help break up a fight, and as he returned to his vehicle, he was seen being followed by officers with a gun drawn at his back. As he attempted to get inside, an officer can be seen pulling his shirt and shooting him several times.

CNN is now reporting that two officers have been placed on leave as authorities conduct an investigation into the shooting. His three children were in the car when the shooting took place.

As we previously reported, Civil Rights attorney Ben Crump is representing Jacob and his family, and on Monday he provided an update on his condition, where he announced that Jacob is still alive.

Wisconsin Department of Justice’s division of criminal investigation said that both officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave. The department said that both officers have not been identified, but they are cooperating.

The state agency reportedly is looking to submit a report to prosecutors within 30 days, no further details were shared.

The video of the shooting has gone viral, and residents took to the streets after the shooting as they demanded that justice be served.

Wisconsin Governor, Tony Evers released a statement where he spoke about the incident and said, “We stand against excessive use of force and immediate escalation when engaging with Black Wisconsinites.”
