Twitter Users Come To Ari Lennox’s Defense After She Was Called Out For Sharing About Her Trip To Ghana

To the Motherland! Ari Lennox was trending on Twitter earlier after some folks didn’t like the tweets she shared about her recent visit to Ghana. The singer had wonderful things to say, one being that it was the most beautiful country in the world, and that she wanted to purchase a home there. Ari even tweeted, “My heart ached/ aches for my ancestors.”

The D.C. native shared a photo and continued to boast about her trip in a series of vulnerable tweets. Although most found her tweets positive, some folks dragged her, which prompted her to delete all the related posts on her Twitter account. In addition, Ari also deleted a photo from the trip off her Instagram. Some of the tweets that targeted her read, “Are your ancestors even from Ghana?” Another said, “I’m back again. This woman thinks she’s in Wakanda. This is too corny. Omg.” Folks weren’t feeling the bullying towards Ari and quickly came to her defense.

One person tweeted, “Ya’ll sit on Twitter, talk s**t about your country, and then cry when Nigerians don’t care about your actors and musicians. Ya’ll bullied Ari Lennox to delete her positive tweets about Ghana. And really, what’s her crime? That she loves Ghana? Like are we even sensible at all?” The support also came from celebrities like activist Tamika D. Mallory.

“These internet fools attacked her,” Tamika said. “And one dumb question was whether her ancestors came from Ghana. Allllllll our ancestors are from somewhere in Africa, and too many left the continent through brutality by way of Ghana. What in the hell is wrong with people!! I literally hate she deleted her tweets.”

Currently, Ari hasn’t responded to the backlash nor support, but she did share that her latest single, ‘Pressure,’ is number 94 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
