Meek Mill is back as a topic of discussion on Twitter after a preview of the song “Kobe” featuring Lil Baby has surfaced. In the song, Meek referenced Kobe’s death saying, “And if I ever lack I’m going out with my choppa it’ll be another Kobe.” The next voice you hear moments later, is Lil Baby’s saying, “I damn near wanna have a son so I can name him Kobe.” Fans didn’t appear to have an issue with Baby’s line, but they were very vocal about Meek being disrespectful referencing Kobe’s death.
One commented,” Meek Mill really said “I’ll go out with my choppa it’ll be another Kobe.” He really decided to stay in the studio and say that line so nobody his crew told him that wasn’t OK?” Another commented, “Are we mad at Meek for the Kobe line or nah? I think It was hella distasteful but I’ve hurt worse. Lil Yachty and the Columbine line was kind of bad too but it’s music.”
This isn’t the first time Meek has had a controversial song leaked or released. Just last week after his interaction with Tekashi 69, Meek dropped a song where he spoke about snitching and flexing on social media. Many people had a lot to say about Meek, including Wack 100. He made a few posts on Instagram and even went live regarding the situation. He called out Meek for not fighting Tekashi and brought up the 2017 incident with Meek’s entourage, who allegedly attacked Safaree. During the live, Wack says,” All you suckas and cowards making excuses, f**k that. The rat’s up one. Microphones are zero. Rappers are zero. Everybody see what happened. This is real s**t. All you ni**as, yo’ lyrics, the way you carry yourself, you pop that s**t when the ball is in your court, but ni**a when it’s go time, it’s go time.”
So far Meek Mill hasn’t responded to the outrage.
