It’s been seven years since the music world lost the legendary Whitney Houston—and while we still have her endless hits to continue to honor her legacy, her estate wants to give fans more courtesy of a hologram tour.
@RollingStone reports that under the supervision of Pat Houston, the Whitney Houston hologram our is not only still moving forward after being initially announced back in May, but it is set to kickoff in early 2020 internationally and premiere in the U.S. months later in the fall.
Titled “An Evening With Whitney,” the international leg of the tour begins in Mexico January 23, 2020 and ends in Belarus on April 3rd. There will be about a six-month break before the tour formally moves stateside in the fall. The tour is produced by BASE Hologram, in partnership with Whitney Houston’s estate, led Whitney’s former manager Pat Houston.
The tour is said to incorporate dancers, a live band, choreography from Aaliyah’s former choreographer Fatima Robinson and include Whitney’s biggest hits, such as “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “The Greatest Love of All” and “Higher Love.”
In a statement regarding the forthcoming tour, Pat Houston had this to say:
“Whitney is not with us, but her music will live with us forever. We know we made the right decision partnering with BASE because they understand how important it is to produce a phenomenal hologram. They also know that engaging her fans with an authentic Whitney experience would resonate worldwide because of the iconic status that she created over three decades. Her fans deserve nothing less because she gave nothing less than her best.”
The BASE Hologram Chairman and CEO, Brian Becker wants to assure fans that the tour is meant to celebrate Whitney’s legacy:
“This isn’t a journey through time, but more of a celebration of her best work. The main goal in these types of shows is to preserve the legacy of one-of-a-kind musicians and using their actual master recordings, give fans the chance to see them perform — many for the first time.”
Tickets for the international portion of the Whitney Houston tour go on sale September 20th at 9 A.M.
