It looks like Sony and R. Kelly have officially decided to part ways, according to Billboard.
The decision reportedly comes on the heels of Lifetime’s recent docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” which features detailed allegations against R. Kelly.
Reps for R. Kelly could not be reached to comment on the situation, but he has been removed from RCA’s official website. He started off his career signed to Jive Records, and when Jive became a part of Sony BMG he fell under the Sony umbrella as well. He has been in a contract with RCA as of recent, which is also under Sony.
Since the airing of “Surviving R. Kelly” many artists have spoken out against him the wake of the allegations. Artists like Lady Gaga and Celine Dion have also pulled their songs, which features R. Kelly from streaming services.
As we previously reported, Sony/ RCA had R. Kelly’s music on hold, which meant they weren’t going to release any additional new music until the criminal investigations were resolved.
