Over the weekend, an intoxicated fan rushed the stage during the Carter’s first night in Atlanta for their #OTRII tour stop. Video footage from the concert showed the man running after the couple at the end of the concert as they exited the stage.
The following day, the Carter’s team released a statement where they reassured that everything was okay and that Beyoncé and Jay-Z decided not to press charges.
However, that didn’t stop Atlanta police from charging the man.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the man was identified as 26-year-old Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell. He was originally issued a citation for disorderly conduct, but police have now added a charge of simple battery.
In the viral video clips, Beyoncé’s backup dancers can be seen charging after the man before being tackled by security.
Atlanta Police officer Lisa Bender said that Maxwell was treated for minor injuries and written up for disorderly conduct before being released.
