Roommates, we are continuing to keep the family of Sadie Roberts-Joseph lifted in prayer during this difficult time. As we previously reported, she was found deceased in the trunk of a car last week.
According to NBC News, authorities announced on Monday that the 75-year-old passed away due to “traumatic asphyxia,” which includes suffocation. It was also confirmed that the car she was found in, was actually her car.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s office said, “It is with great sadness and respect we investigate any unexpected or traumatic death. When our investigation involves an innocent victim, such as Ms. Sadie Joseph, it is particularly tragic. Our condolences are extended to Ms. Joseph’s family and friends.”
Pat McCallister-Leduff, Sadie’s niece also said, “It’s horrible that somebody would actually come to Aunt Sadie and kill her and put her in her own trunk. I just couldn’t imagine what they could have said to her or what could have happened to make them do that. She never would deserve anything like that.”
As many of you know, Ms. Sadie is the founder of an African American History Museum.
Sharon Weston Broome, the Baton Rouge Mayor-President, said, “She loved this city and its people. Her commitment to the cultural and educational fabric of our community is beyond description.”
There is reportedly an award up to $5,000 being offered for information that can lead to an arrest.
We continue to keep Ms. Sadie Roberts-Joseph’s family in our prayers.
