Earlier we posted about a mass shooting at a Madden EASports Tournament in Jacksonville, FL. Since then, the total amount of deaths and injuries has been reported.
According to CNN, Jacksonville, FL Sheriff Mike Williams announced that two people were fatally shot during the video game tournament at a shopping and dining complex. Nine other people suffered from gunshot wounds, and two other injured victims fled the area following the shooting.
Williams identified the gunman as David Katz, 24, from Baltimore Maryland. He was in Jacksonville for the video game tournament and took his own life after the shooting. At least one handgun was used in the shooting.
Williams announced that the injured victims from the shooting were in stable condition.
The shooting was heard in an online stream of the Madden event, which was posted to the website Twitch.
EA Sports briefly spoke at the incident and said:
We are aware of an incident at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition in Jacksonville. We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage. This is a horrible situation, and our deepest sympathies go out to all involved.
