Have you ever had a craving for some Jollof rice or jerk chicken but couldn’t find all the spices at your local grocery story? Well, there’s a new app out for that y’all!
OjaExpress, created by Chicago entrepreneur Boyede Sobitan, is helping you find all of the key ingredients for the African and Caribbean dishes you love most. The delivery app brings the diaspora’s delicacies right to your doorstep.
“We are currently focusing on African and Caribbean immigrants, in the US, but fully intend to include other immigrant communities as we grow,” Sobitan told @BlackEnterprise. “We realized that the immigrant community is left out of the on-demand grocery shopping landscape.”
So what gave him the idea to create a mobile marketplace for ethnic groceries? Sobitan grew up in a Nigerian family on the Southside of Chicago and understood the importance of families having easy access to the foods that remind them of home!
