#TSRTakeAMoment: Japanese Residents Urged to Evacuate After 7.3 Magnitude Earthquake Sparks Tsunami Warning

A 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit the east coast of Japan near Fukushima just before 4 pm EST yesterday. This is the same area that was damaged back in 2011 by a tsunami that was caused by a 9 magnitude earthquake. For these reasons, the country is taking precautionary measures by urging residents to evacuate.

The Japan Meteorological Agency suspects that a tsunami could form with waves that could reach up to 10 ft. so Japan’s public broadcaster, NHK, is vehemently urging residents to get to evacuate and get to higher ground. “Please do not think that you are safe. Please evacuate to high grounds,” they said. “Even if you live inland please go and evacuate.”

No casualties or damages have been reported, but we will keep you guys updated.
