Papa John’s is the latest company to donate to Bennett College in an effort to help keep the school open.
According to Fox 8, the pizza company donated a total of $500,000 to the private historically black college for women located in Greensboro, NC. The school reportedly needs $5 million by February 1st to remain open.
So far, they have reportedly raised a total of $1.5 million since December. Since then, Alpha Phi Alpha has donated $31,000 and Newmark Knight Frank donated $10,000.
Increasing the school’s enrollment is the main way they are trying to keep the school open. However, regardless of how things may end, seniors scheduled to graduate in May will still have the opportunity to walk across the graduation stage.
Bennett College took to social media on Thursday to thank Papa Johns CEO Steve Ritchie for the donation.
Last year, Papa John’s founder John Schnatter resigned from the company and removed from all of the company’s ads after he admitted to using the n-word during a conference call.
