#TSRPositiveImages: Disney Donates Over $1 Million To The Bahamas Amid Hurricane Dorian Aftermath

Although the Bahamas is currently going through a devastating ordeal in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, celebrities and big-name corporations have pledged to financially aid the popular destination island—and Disney is the latest to offer a jaw-dropping amount of support.

Tyler Perry and Rihanna are just some of the celebrities who have committed to financially aiding the Bahamas as the residents continue to rebuild following the terrible effects of Hurricane Dorian. The good news continues however, as @People reports that Disney is donating more then $1 million for relief efforts.

Disney made the generous announcement via statement that read:

“We’re committed to helping them rebuild their homes, their communities and their livelihoods. And today, I’m proud to share with you that the Walt Disney Company, led by Disney Cruise Line, made a commitment of more than $1 million to help relief and recovery efforts in The Bahamas.

This commitment includes a $1 million donation to non-profit relief agencies who will be undertaking recovery and rebuilding efforts, as well as the provision of supplies – including food staples and basic construction materials – to those in impacted areas.”

Jeff Vahle, president of Disney Cruise Line, also had an emotional message for Bahamian residents and how Disney plans to help:

“We stand with the Bahamian people, and especially those in Abaco and Grand Bahama, as they recover from the worst storm to ever make landfall in The Bahamas. As the needs in these communities are assessed, we are prepared to aid the relief and recovery efforts through funding, the provision of supplies and by providing support to our Bahamian Crew Members.”

Currently, the death toll in the Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian is listed at seven people, and sadly that number is expected to rise in the coming days. Additionally, some of the damage done to the island is said to be beyond repair.

We continue to keep all those impacted by Hurricane Dorian in our prayers.

Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
