It is never too early to embody an entrepreneurial mindset, and 8-year-old Jalen Bailey definitely understands that.
According to KFSN-TV, the 8-year-old from Fresno, California has started his own bakery, in order to help fund a new home for he and his mother.
Some of the tasty treats on his menu include cookies, muffins, bread and other baked goods. The young business owner was asked about the kind of home he was looking to fund and he said, “I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in.”
His mother Sharhonda Mahan said she’s had her own side businesses since the age of 18, so the entrepreneurial spirit has been in her sons DNA. She did however admit to being surprised by his reason for the bakery. She said, “It was a little overwhelming because it was something that I couldn’t do for him.”
Bailey attended an event where he networked with other cooking entrepreneurs, he met a man who offered him an oven to help push his business forward.
It’s definitely great to see a young business owner doing something positive.
