Just days after Donnie’s distasteful comments about Haitians, it has been announced that the Department of Homeland Security has officially barred Haitian citizens from applying for low-skilled work visas in the United States.
Reuters reports that DHS claims Haitians whos utilize the program have “high levels of fraud and abuse,” as well as a “high rate of overstaying the terms” from the visa recipients.
If you aren’t familiar, Haitian residents became eligible to apply for visas back in 2010 after it was hit by a hurricane. Now, the Trump administration has done its part in taking steps to make things a bit harder for them. For some, that visa is a lifeline.
