Do you guys remember the #TSRProposals I shared with you back in October about Altrichia Cook and her boo Anthony — the high school sweethearts who got pregnant at just 17, went to college, broke up for FIVE years, and are now counting down the days until their wedding day?
Well, Altrichia is using her story to help teen moms in her hometown, Lakeland, Fl.
Altrichia was just 17 when she got pregnant, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams, and that is the very message she wants to share with young moms who may feel as though life is over after teenage pregnancy. Altrichia earned two degrees, started her own company, and is just months away from marrying the man of her dreams.
When she’s not spreading her #BlackGirlMagic all over the globe, she is contributing to the youth — most specifically teen moms. In just one week, Altrichia will be hosting her 5th annual “Sweetheart Seminar,” an empowerment event for teen-mom students.
“The purpose of the Sweetheart Seminar is to foster the importance of self-love, self-awareness, and the importance of furthering their education,” she tells us. “In support of the event, former teen moms and young moms attend to share their stories to give hope to the young Women as well!”
“I believe that each component of The Sweetheart Seminar will help these young mothers understand the power they possess, which will, in turn, help them become successful and productive women; always choosing to defy the odds.”
