#TSRFoodies: Taco Bell Debuts New Vegetarian Menu

In case ya’ll haven’t noticed, the fast food industry is really trying to come for the coins of all the vegans and vegetarians out there—and Taco Bell is the latest company to throw its hat into the ring.

Taco Bell realizes that the future of fast food relies on targeting customers who are more health conscious, which means that updating and adding to their existing menu is mandatory. As reported by @CNN, Taco Bell is set to roll out its new vegetarian menu on September 12 which includes two new items, the Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme and the Black Bean Quesarito.

These and other vegetarian selections will be displayed prominently underneath the new “Vegetarian Favorites” section of the Taco Bell menu. The decision to implement a vegetarian menu comes after the brand conducted a test earlier this year. Customers can also expect to see a new advertising campaign to promote the health-conscious menu very soon.

The vegetarian menu will feature over a dozen items that will all be stamped with a green logo noting Taco Bell’s American Vegetarian Association verification—making it the first and only fast food chain to receive the certification dating back to 2015.

Additionally, Taco Bell wants vegetarian customers to also know that many non-vegetarian items can be made vegetarian by simply substituting beans for meat. The company stressed that its menu “can be customized more than 8 million ways” to fit a vegetarian diet.

It’s great that more fast food chains are understanding and providing options for non-meat-eaters, only time will tell if customers flock to it though.

Roommates, are you excited about the new menu?
