Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, has died at age 80. Kofi was one of the worlds most respected diplomats. He was also the first black man to lead the United Nations, according to CNN.
The Kofi Annan Foundation took to Twitter to confirm the news in a statement.
“It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation announce that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on Saturday 18th August after a short illness…”
He passed away peacefully with his wife Nane and three children by his side. Our prayers are with his family.
