TSR Updatez: Two Buffalo Police Officers Have Been Charged With Second-Degree Assault For Pushing Elderly Man At Protest–Plead Not Guilty

According to @foxnews, two Buffalo police officers who were seen on video pushing an elderly man have been arrested and both entered a plea of not guilty. Officers Robert McCabe & Aaron Torglaski were charged with second-degree assault. They were released without bail and will return to court on July 20.

Though the court hearing was virtual, protesters were outside, expressing their support. A few showed up with signs and one read, “Support the people that protect all people.”

According to reports, the elderly man reportedly sustained a head injury, and is in serious condition at a local hospital. Mayor Byron Brown released a statement in regards to the incident, revealing that the officers involved have been suspended without pay while an investigation takes place.

“I was deeply disturbed by the video, as was the Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood,” he said. “He directed an immediate investigation into the matter, and the two officers have been suspended without pay.”

The mayor also stated that the man was in the area after the curfew. “He was in that area, after the curfew, one of the things that happened before that incident, is that were conflicts between protesters. There was a danger of fights breaking out between protesters and the police felt it was very important to clear that scene for the safety of protesters.”

He added that the officers asked him to leave “numerous times. ”

As previously reported, footage of the protest surfaced online showed the 75-year-old man  approaching the officers but being pushed down. Once he was pushed, the officers proceeded to keep walking, while he begins to bleed from his ears. The officers would eventually call for medical attention.
