Roommates, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics are just a few weeks away and the Olympic trials for several sports are currently underway—and track star Sha’Carri Richardson just proved that she is the one to beat after officially qualifying for her very first Olympic Games. Within minutes, Sha’Carri Richardson was trending on social media and track fans couldn’t help but show her some serious love for her stunning performance during the track and field Olympic trials.
Sha’Carri Richardson, 21, is definitely a name you will be hearing very often during this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo. After recently winning the 100 meters in 10.86 seconds, Richardson has track fans excited for her potential to bring home some gold medals. She added to that victory by winning another race this weekend with an impressive time of 10.64 as she crossed the finish line.
If she wins the 100 meters in the Tokyo Olympics, she will be the first American woman since Gail Devers to win the gold since the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
However, Sha’Carri Richardson won’t have long to rest, as she is set to compete in the 200 meters on June 24—she already holds the fastest time in this event with 22.11 seconds.
In this year alone, she received the second-fastest time in the 100 meter in the world, with a jaw-dropping time of 10.72 seconds back in April. Although, that record was quickly surpassed by fellow track star Shelly-Ann Fraser, who ran the meet in 10.63 just a few weeks ago.
We can’t wait to see what she does at 2021 Olympics!
