Of course, not everyone has a bae to spend V-Day with, and that’s okay because some people choose not to. But no worries, we have everyone covered when it comes to enjoying February 14th with or without a bae.
Check out our top films below:
1: Love Jones (With A Bae)
Released back in 1997, the film stars Nia Long and Larenz Tate, and has gone down as one of the most popular romance films from the 90’s. And it even helped start a few of those poetry and photography careers out there.
2: Waiting To Exhale (Without A Bae)
Let’s talk about a classic! Back in 1995, Savanah, Bernadine, Lela and Gloria came together and showed us the ups and downs that can happen within a relationship. Nonetheless, we all were able to learn that not all relationships last…but it’s cool as long as you have a great group of close friends.
3: Jason’s Lyric (With A Bae)
If there is anything that we can learned from this 1994 film, it would be that it is not always a bad idea to give love a chance. We definitely get to see that as Allen Payne and Jada Pinkett Smith portray Jason and Lyric.
4: Boomerang (With/ Without A Bae)
When a notorious playboy finally falls in love!
That is exactly what you’ll get to see in this film with Eddie Murphy as Marcus Graham. Stuck between the woman he thought was his dream girl, and the woman that keeps it real with him. This film, which features an A-list cast (Halle Berry, Robin Givens, Martin Lawrence, David Allen Grier) is a must see on your Valentine’s Day list.
5: Brown Sugar (With A Bae)

6: What’s Love Got To Do With It (Without A Bae)
Based on the life of legendary singer Tina Turner, Angela Bassett helps tell her story as she rose to fame in one of music’s most well-known relationships. The most valuable lesson taken away from this film is that there is no love like self love. Therefore, you will definitely get a kick of motivation from watching this film.
7: Love & Basketball (With A Bae)
Yet another classic film, and some may call it cliché. Nonetheless, everyone has this film on their list of romances. Two childhood friends grow to realize their love for each other is just as strong as their love for the game of basketball. Not to mention there are a lot of real life Quincy and Monica’s out there.
8: Two Can Play That Game (With/ Without A Bae)
When a woman’s fed up…she’ll play you at your own game just to teach you a lesson. That’s exactly what Viva A. Fox does in this film, starring opposite of Morris Chestnut. The 2001 romance/ comedy featured a few rules that may have worked or back fired in a few relationships here or there.
9: How Stella Got Her Groove Back (With A Bae)
After suffering so much loss, Stella, portrayed by Angela Bassett, learns how to live and love again. Now finding love in a much younger man may have not been a part of her plan, but then again not everyone has control in who they fall in love with. Taye Diggs stars as Bassett’s love interest in the 1998 film.
