DDG recently posted a video giving his son Halo a haircut, and social media had much to say about the first-time dad’s decision.
In a YouTube video titled, ‘Finally Revealing My Son’s Face After 6 Months,” the rapper begins the video holding his infant son in anticipation of his first ‘cut.
The barber said, “What’s up, little bro?” as he brushed the infant’s baby hair. “Don’t move Halo. If he mess your lining up…” DDG teased. The barber added, “This gone determine how far your line finna be.”
DDG— born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.— responded, “For real?” as he held his son’s face in his hands. “Yeah, and I’m gonna keep it low,” the barber reassured the concerned dad. He then told him, “But he can’t move though.” Darryl placed one hand on the top of Baby Halo’s head and the other under his chin to prevent his head from moving. The little boy began slapping his hand and whining from the restraint. The barber then advised him not to hold him too tightly. DDG instructed him to touch Halo lightly with the clippers to see how he would react. Halo wasn’t havin’ it! He immediately began to cry. “Awwww come on,” Granberry said with a smile on his face. He then got an idea that would distract his little boy. “Maybe I can give him a bottle.” DDG reached behind him and grabbed a bottle from the couch. A voice from behind the camera says, “Oh yeah, we gone be good.” After DDG and the barber struggled for a few minutes, Halo had a fresh line. His dad’s elation was evident! “Yeaaaaaaa,” the proud dad said in approval.
As previously reported by The Shade Room, DDG snapped at social media commenters who criticized his son’s looks after he and his girlfriend, singer Halle Bailey, revealed their child’s face for the first time. People also had a lot to say about Halo’s first haircut.
Under the Daily Loud’s tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, commenters weighed in on DDG’s choice to clean up Halo’s hairline.
@NigelThornBearE wrote, “Bro gone push his natural hairline back.”
@juicystory_xciv stated, “that’s cute but i think it’s too early to give the baby a haircut.”
“What did I just watch?” @zedweb3 asked.
@theonlyQueenQ thought Halo was “Way too young for that.”
Others were all for the baby getting lined up.
“lol this how u do it wen u dad right,” @swankpie wrote.
@AiFlippa defended DDG, stating, “Nothing wrong with him being fresh. Cmonnn maybe.”
“Freshest 6-month-old on the block,” @W_R47 co-signed.
What do you think? Is it too soon for DDG’s son to get a line up, or is he ahead of the game?
