The end of an era is coming, but not quite yet! The GOAT, Tom Brady, has been trending for hours after ESPN reporters Adam Scheffer and Jeff Darlington announced that the NFL baller was retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons. Jeff tweeted, “Tom Brady is retiring from football after 22 extraordinary seasons, multiple sources tell @AdamSchefter and me. More coming on ESPN.com.”
The 7x NFL champion has been silent, but his team is working overtime to clarify what he’s doing with his career, and retirement, isn’t it. His sports agent, Don Yee, released a statement stating, “I understand the advance speculation about Tom’s future. Without getting into the accuracy or inaccuracy of what’s being reported, Tom will be the only person to express his plans with complete accuracy.”
The statement continued, “He knows the realities of the football business and planning calendar as well as anybody, so that should be soon.” Tom’s father, Tom Brady Sr., also spoke out, denying the reports. According to KRON 4, Tom Sr. advised that his son was not retiring and called reports an unsubstantiated rumor. In addition, he shared that his son has not talked to Buccaneers yet.
Tom Sr. spoke to NFL Network’s Mike Giardi, reiterating, “has not made a final decision one way or the other.” As folks continue to talk about Tom’s decision, Adam Scheffer also trended online, and folks are not showing him any mercy. Yahoo reporter Michael Silver stepped in to show him some support, tweeting, “For the record: I have 100 percent faith in @JeffDarlington and his reporting, always, and know that he and @AdamSchefter are extremely plugged in on this… Just passing along the Bucs’ current perspective.”
Roommates, should Tom Brady retire?
