What works for one person when it comes to marriage may not work for you! Roommates everyone is entitled to their opinion when it comes to love and marriage. Earlier this week, we shared a TikTok video with a woman who spoke about marriage being a piece of paper, and it sparked up quite a debate. Some of everyone stepped into The Shade Room to share their thoughts. However, Tokyo Vanity shared her opinion in a lengthy post on her Instagram page and opened up about why she didn’t like the phrase.
Tokyo wrote, “Marriage is just a piece of paper. I can’t stand that saying, if you are broken, say that. If you have never seen a successful marriage, say that. If you don’t like committing, say that. If you were raised by a bitter woman who told you, “Ni***s ain’t s**t,” say that. If your father was a Rolling Stone and put a negative outlook on women or commitment, say that.”
Tokyo continued and even spoke on the taboo in the Black community about men and women needing counseling but refusing to go because of the stigma that people say it’s “white people s**t.”
The “SBA” rapper also spoke on wanting to keep the traditional values of being married before bringing a child into the world. Supa Cent, one of Tokyo’s besties, stepped into The Shade Room to comment on her friend’s post. “Facts. The bitter and hurt have the most opinions about relationships. If a couple shares happy moments, they have to doubt they’re happy. If a man buys his woman a gift,” Supa said. “They say it’s an apology gift. You can tell just from blog comments that a lot of women don’t believe in happy relationships.”
Many of the roommates agreed with Tokyo. One said, “Looks like she covered all the bases on this.” Roommates, what do yall think about what Tokyo said?
