A little over a year since their work affair became public, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are still going strong! Now that they’ve both finalized their divorces from former spouses, the question of marriage has come up.
In a new episode of their joint podcast, the former ‘Good Morning America’ hosts opened up about what’s next for them.
Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes Talk Marriage
As mentioned, Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, and Holmes was married to lawyer Marilee Fiebig. For both of them, those marriages were their second ones. This means if Amy and T.J. wed, this would mark their third marriage each.
“…It’s interesting having gone through this now, both of us twice,” Amy Robach said on their podcast. “And, I know that can be joke material, but I actually think it’s been such hard-earned, God, I mean, just I’ve learned so much through going through both of those relationships and now being in this one with you.”
For context, Holmes filed for divorce in December 2022, ending his 12-year union with Marilee. Almost a year later, in October 2023, they settled and finalized the paperwork, per PEOPLE.
Meanwhile, Amy and Andrew finalized theirs in March 2023, per Page Six. They had been separated since Aug. 2022 after getting married in 2010.
On the podcast, Amy added that, as humans, we all get “caught up in the traditions and in the expectations” of what’s next for couples. Despite hesitating on actually being married, Robach reassured listeners that she and T.J. have the desire to be together. For them, that seems to be enough for now.
“Interestingly, now, with the choice totally in front of us to get married or not for us, we’re kind of on the fence and laughing about it because it doesn’t matter because we know we want to be with each other. We want to marry each other. We don’t have to necessarily get married because of what that represents. It’s almost for everyone else and not for you,” Amy Robach said.
As for T.J., he spoke on how it felt “odd” that she was sitting near him, having the discussion with a promise ring from him around her neck.
“I am gonna only do a promise ring because things might not work out. I get it. That is probably the safe thing to do given the numbers, but something about that feels odd as I sit here with you with a ring around your neck,” he said.

This is about the third time the couple has spoken about marriage on the podcast. In Dec., Amy revealed they were not “rushing towards” a wedding. However, she clarified that they both entered the relationship with intentions to spend their lives together.
In April of this year, she updated their listeners on the marriage question, saying they “haven’t decided” yet. At the time, they were not yet living together, which is something Amy said she desired.
“We work together, and we prep for work together…and so we’re never [apart], and we’ve been like this for a very long time. I just think we’re so used to constantly being around each other. [Marriage] would not change anything.”
From Work Lovers To Happy Couple: Amy & T.J. Explained
Here’s the recap tea! Amy and T.J. made their red carpet debut as a couple in Dec. 2023 at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball. They appeared to be happily in love as they laughed and smiled their way across the flashing cameras!
Though that was their red carpet debut, their romantic ties secretly began in 2022. But the secret didn’t last long. In Nov. of that year, The Daily Mail exposed their affair by releasing cozy photos of the now-couple in the car and on a dinner date in upstate New York.
Sources close to the pair have long maintained that their romance didn’t overlap with their former marriages, per PEOPLE. The couples had allegedly separated within weeks of each other in August.
Ultimately, Amy and T.J. lost their jobs with ‘Good Morning America’ in Jan. 2023 but stuck together. Throughout last year, they reportedly vacationed in Mexico, ran a half marathon together, and even attended a football game at his alma mater. Their outings have continued into this new year, from red carpets to dates!
So, will a wedding happen in 2024? We’ll have to wait and see!
