#Roommates, if you’re looking to start the new year with some new restaurant options, look no further because popular social media platform TikTok has you covered. It was recently announced that in March, TikTok is set to open 300 restaurants inspired by some of the most popular viral food trends on its platform—and by the end of 2022 an estimated 1,000 restaurants will be available for fans to enjoy.
@BusinessInsider reports that TikTok is officially partnering up with Virtual Dining Concepts to launch a delivery-based restaurant chain beginning in March of next year with 300 locations. Named “TikTok Kitchens,” the restaurants are aimed at bringing viral TikTok foods to fans, which is a more modern and tailormade take for TikTok to enter into the restaurant industry. The menu will feature viral TikTok favorite recipes, such as baked feta pasta, smash burgers, corn ribs, and pasta chips, that will be alongside various other food trends on the platform and updated on a quarterly basis. By the end of 2022, the company hopes to have a staggering 1,000 locations.
“TikTok Kitchens” will launch with 300 locations to start and operate out of national chain restaurants like Buca di Beppo and Bertucci’s—companies that are part of the ghost kitchen trend, which involves restaurants serving delivery-only or drive-through orders without a physical storefront, a practice that gained immense popularity during the pandemic. What’s even better is that proceeds from the restaurant sales will support the TikTok creators who came up with the recipes, as well as others who want to create new dishes.
If you’re interested in being part of this innovative new take on dining, any restaurant across the country can apply to become a “market partner,” which will allow them to host food preparation for “TikTok Kitchen” orders.
