TikTok Establishes $200M Fund To Pay Creators For Their Content!

TSR Positive Images: This generation of TikTok’ers may have joined the app for entertainment, but it looks like they might be able to get a bag from it, too! We have seen so many dances, challenges, and hilarious videos go viral, and even get national attention because of their popularity, and the app is ready to give coins to creators.

According to The Verge, TikTok has just created a $200 million fund to support creators who “are seeking opportunities to foster a livelihood” on the app. Prior to this move, creators could monetize their live streams on the app, but this is the first effort from TikTok to directly pay creators for their videos.

“Through the TikTok Creator Fund, our creators will be able to realize additional earnings that reflect the time, care, and dedication they put into creatively connecting with an audience that’s inspired by their ideas,” Vanessa Pappas, general manager of TikTok, said in a blog post.

TikTok previously created the $50 million Creative Learning Fund for creators at the end of May, which was awarded to teachers on the platform but the Creator Fund is brand new, and open to a vast majority of those who make videos.

The Creator Fund is an application based program, open to users 18 or older who meet a baseline for follows, and consistently post original content on the platform.

“In a relatively short time, TikTok has grown to become a source of income and opportunity for creators and their families — and we couldn’t be more encouraged by their success. As our community continues to flourish, we’re committed to fostering even more ways for our creators to earn livelihoods by inspiring joy and creativity,” according to the company’s statement.

TikTok announced that the fund will be distributed “over the coming year and is expected to grow over that time.”
