Yesterday news broke that Tiger Woods was involved in a single-car accident that required him to have surgery. On Wednesday his team released a statement thanking everyone for their support as they gave an update on his condition.
They shared that he underwent surgery on his lower right leg and ankle after being taken to UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Anish Mahajan spoke about his injuries and said that Tiger “suffered orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity.” His injuries continued to be described as “comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula.”
They were stabilized by having a rod inserted into his tibia. He injured the bones in his foot and ankle, and they were stabilized with both screws and pins.

His team says that he’s currently awake, responsive, and recovering in his hospital room.
As previously reported, the accident took place on Tuesday 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes communities. Tiger was alone in his vehicle at the time of the accident, and there was a great amount of damage done to the car that it was described that he had to be extricated from the car with the “jaws of life.”
Many celebrities sent out their prayers to Tiger following the news of his accident.
